Although it may not feel quite like it yet, spring is in the air when it comes to the jewelry forecast and those in the know are predicting plenty of shine. With warm weather just around the corner, love is sure to follow and wedding bells will soon be ringing as June remains one of the most popular months for tying the knot. When it comes to saying ‘I Do’, wedding rings may be the most celebrated jewelry of the day, but every bride knows that the accessories chosen to highlight her look will play a very important role. Cubic zirconia jewelry is one of the most popular choices for the bride who wants to add plenty of dazzle without spending a lot of dough on her special day.
If you’re planning a walk down the aisle, chandelier earrings are very trendy. Whether you choose a sleek design or a bold look, dangle earrings are ideal if your hair is being worn up. If you plan to let your hair flow, consider a stud style earring with dazzling cubic zirconia to complete your look.
As Fashion Week revealed, trends for spring 2007 are going to be bold. As a bride who prefers sterling silver, you can wear and enjoy a design that features a lot of presence. Whether sterling silver jewelry is your favorite or you find that it offers the look of white gold or platinum without the price tag, your budget will thank you. Silver and white are both expected to be largely popular in the upcoming season, which is ideal for the bride who plans to wear sterling silver with a white gown. If your gown is strapless, a bold necklace or cuff bracelet featuring cubic zirconia will be a breathtaking accent.
We all know that pearls are classic and, as such, have always been the choice of bridal jewelry. Whether your gown is white or ivory, pearls will be the perfect compliment and trends predict that pearls and diamonds will be extremely popular. Instead of spending thousands of dollars on a necklace or bracelet, many are opting for faux pearls and cubic zirconia jewelry instead. When set in sterling silver, the brilliance of cubic zirconia is at its finest and is sure to combine a touch of femininity with just the right amount of trend to make every bride the classic beauty that she is.
No wedding would be complete without the rings but, when it comes to the style that you will be wearing for a lifetime, the choice is about much more than just the current trends. Many 2007 brides will be wearing rings made to replicate vintage or antique designs as history will repeat itself in the upcoming wedding season. Depending on your own personal preference, you may prefer a classic bridal set styled in a traditional design. Whatever your preference, cubic zirconia sterling silver wedding rings are sure to match your taste.
The jewelry trends noted in this article are designed for bridal wear, but can easily be incorporated into that worn by bridesmaids, wedding guests or for other formal affairs. Recent 2007 trend suggestions at Fashion Week predict smooth and bold designs with plenty of gold and silver. This means that whether you are a bride, a bridesmaid or just a woman who appreciates style, you can look forward to a season filled with plenty of bright days and just the right amount of sparkle. Every day is the perfect day to say ‘I Do’ to cubic zirconia jewelry set in sterling silver and, even if it ’s not your wedding day, theres plenty of reason for celebration when you can look great and save a bundle in the process.

Personally I think pearl jewelry is the best choice for the bride to wear on her wedding day. I like them for their appearance of purity. They are beautifully, iridescent and come in an array of colors. While traditional pearls maybe the white or cream color, they also come in pink, gold, orange and black.
Pearls are considered gemstones, but differ from most other gemstones in several ways. First they are not minerals. Nor are they mined from beneath the earth. They both absorb and reflect light. Pearls are also rather soft in comparison to other gemstones.
Wearing pearls for bridal jewelry is a reminder marriage like the forming of a pearl is a process.
Pearls are formed inside the shells of oysters. A pearl is formed over time beginning when a foreign substance enters the shell. The oyster covers the invading or foreign substance with thin layers of nacre. Repeating this process until the foreign substance is covered with layers and layers of this nacre forming what we would call a pearl. These gemstones can then be made into beautiful individual pieces of pearl bridal jewelry to fit the style and taste of each bride.
It is amazing that something that starts out as an invading substance to the oyster is turned into something of such beauty. I like to think that the building of a good marriage needs to be a lot like that. As two come together to become one, they bring different beliefs and traditions into their marriage. Using pearls for bridal jewelry is a reminder that a good marriage is process. Something that could be considered an irritant, or annoying when covered in love, much like the oyster covers the foreign substance with nacre, will with time produce something of beauty.
Pearl jewelry is great choice for bridal jewelry because it can compliment the beading that is done on so many bridal dresses. As it compliments the dress, it doesn’t draw attention away from the style and statement that the bride is making.
Maybe the bride should not only wear pearls on her wedding day, but everyday as a reminder that marriage is a work in progress.

Jewelry designer Simon Ghanimian is a household name and has received accolades from fashion and bridal magazines, but his favorite part of the job is meeting the everyday people who wear his jewelry.
“That’s the best part of it,” Ghanimian said in a telephone interview from his studio in Los Angeles. “When I see the excitement on their faces, it makes me feel better. I like to listen to (the customers).”
He’ll have a chance to do that this week as he attends special showings of his collections — known as the Simon G. line — at Kranich’s Jewelers stores in central Pennsylvania. Ghanimian will be at the store on College Avenue in downtown State College from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the store in the Galleria Mall in Johnstown from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday; and at the store in the Logan Valley Mall from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
“We’re really excited,” said Michael Kranich Jr., president of Kranich’s Jewelers. “He’s a super nice guy. And local people will get to see a product line from a designer who
doesn’t normally come to an area like this.”
Ghanimian’s visit is “pretty unusual,” said Amanda Gizzi, spokeswoman for the Jewelry Information Center, a nonprofit trade association based in New York City.
“He’s a relatively big name and has wide range of clients,” Gizzi said in a telephone interview. “As far as (jewelry designers’) names go, very few are recognizable, and (Ghanimian) is among those who are. … Once designers get more recognizable, they tend to do less in the way of trunk shows. It’s a great honor to have any designer come to a retail store.”
The lines offer something for everyone, Kranich said, with prices starting at $600, with most falling between $600 and $1,000.
“There are all kinds of different things,” he said. “There are pieces to start out with, very expensive pieces … he makes a lot of different things.”
Kranich said his stores have done business with Ghan-imian for several years and told him they’d like him to visit.
The stores usually have trunk shows, but Ghanimian has never been present for one at a Kranich’s location.
Though Ghanimian is best known for his bridal jewelry, the trunk show will also display the fashion side of his line.
Both his fashion and bridal pieces use combinations of white, yellow and rose gold with white diamonds and colored stones.
“The pink, or rose gold, is a flavor that’s coming back into the market,” Kranich said.
Ghanimian founded his company in 1981, five years after he immigrated to New York City at age 19 from Beirut. He said he specialized in bridal jewelry because it was “recession proof” — something people would buy no matter what the state of the economy — but there’s a personal side to it as well.
“It’s fun to do bridal,” he said. “The customer’ll wear it all their life. When you design the piece, you know they’ll look at in five to 10 years and still love it. There’s more longevity.”
Still, he wanted more interaction with the customers, so he turned to fashion jewelry.
“(With bridal lines), you sell the customer one piece and may not see them again,” he said. “With the fashion side, they can come back for anniversaries, birthdays.”
Customers, in fact, are what Ghanimian lists as his top inspiration.
“I visit with quite a few (customers),” he said. “Customer feedback is very important. We see how they’re liking it and are always coming up with new ideas.”

Jewellery (spelled jewelry in American English) refers to ornamental devices worn by persons, typically made with gems and precious metals. Costume jewelry is made from less valuable materials. However, jewelry can and has been made out of almost every kind of material. Examples include bracelets, necklaces, rings, and earrings, as well as items like hair ornaments or body piercing jewelry. Jewelry, particularly when made with precious materials, is generally considered valuable and desirable. Some cultures have a practice of keeping large amounts of wealth stored in the form of jewelry. Jewelry can also be symbolic, as in the case of Christians wearing a crucifix in the form of jewelry, or, as is the case in many Western cultures, married people wearing a wedding ring. And what can symbolize love and, of course, the wedding ceremony more than a diamond?
Diamonds are graded by four characteristics: cut, carat (weight), clarity, and color. All four of these properties determine how much a diamond is worth.
Cut - What is the proportion of the diamond? Round brilliant diamonds are commonly cut with 58 facets. The better proportioned these facets are on the diamond, the more light will be reflected back to the viewer’s eye. This is extremely important. When cut properly, the diamond will sparkle more. Diamond cuts are measured by the table percentage, so always ask for it. Cut also refers to the shape such as: round, pear, and oval.
Carat - How big is the diamond? Larger diamonds often cost more per carat due to their size. There are 100 points to a carat. Hence a 50 point diamond is 1/2 a carat. (There are 5 carats to a gram.)
Clarity - How clear is the stone? Clarity ranges from flawless (perfect) to I (included). Here is a summary:
Color - Diamond colors generally range from D - X for white and yellow diamonds. D is the whitest. Around S they become “Fancy” yellow Diamonds. One can also find green, pink, red, blue and brown diamonds - though these are usually irradiated.
Diamonds are often treated. If you are concerned about getting true value for your money, know what you are getting. Be sure to read the fine print.
Diamonds with inclusions are sometimes filled with glass to make them appear clearer. An inclusion is an imperfection internal to the diamond. Filler can be damaged by heat, ultrasonic cleaning, and by re-tipping. The filling does not repair the inclusion, it just makes it less visible. They can be painted to offset a yellow tinge. The paint wears off rather quickly.
Finally, now that you have that precious stone, here are some tips as to how to take care of it. Diamonds are often thought to be unshatterable. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Diamonds are brittle: If you hit a diamond hard, they WILL crack or chip if mishandled. Don’t wear your diamond when doing rough work.
Storage: Store diamonds separately. When stored with other jewelry, diamonds may scratch other jewelry (or each other).
Cleaning: The best method for cleaning is a jeweler’s polishing cloth. Many jewelers will clean your diamond ring for free if you are making another purchase in the store.

Jewelry is one of the oldest and most widespread type of accessory. It is made from materials of particular beauty or rarity, providing the person who wears it with elegance and style. Today, women have a lot of accessories to choose from and the Internet is perhaps the best place to find interesting items.
Somewhere around 1890, a daring young man invented an automatic cutting machine and paved the way for crystal jewelry. His name was Daniel Swarovski and up to this day this brand holds one of the biggest collections of crystal sculptures, jewelry and chandeliers. With the passing of time, new techniques were discovered and Swarovski earned a name in the field of luxury crystal jewerly.
The advent of the Internet allowed people to avoid those long, dreadful hours spent shopping. This type of shopping is enjoyed by many people not only because it is time-efficient, but also because of the wide range of products available online. Today, there are plenty of websites providing various Swarovski crystals and introducing the world to high-quality jewelry items.
The history of Swarovski crystals is long and rich in detail. Since its appearance, many generations have worn these priceless objects with delicate and refined features. In order to keep up with the latest trends imposed by the fashion stylists, designers have started to successfully mix classic designs with modern and innovative ideas, resulting in amazing collections and attracting customers worldwide.
There is no doubt that Swarovski crystals available for sale online are extremely popular. Fashion styles have changed over years and these jewelry items have managed to be just as popular no matter what. On the Internet, one can find incredible selections suitable for various occassions including anniversaries or weddings. Wearing Swarovski crystals is a true demonstration of style and the incomparable crystal purity is what mainly draws women to them.
Crystal jewelry has been used as adornment since a couple of centuries ago and Swarovski crystals do not make any exception. The possibility to find exactly what you want online, among all the available Swarovski crystals, increases if a lot of patience is dedicated to Internet searches, but even without a lot of effort, there are still plenty of options out there. Women now have a ton of choices and every item has a special price. The popularity of these crystal beads comes as no surprise; quality jewelry is something everybody wants to have and evey fashion movement includes.
Swarovski crystals are cut in a very special way in order to refract as much light as possible. Also, experts add some sort of chemical coating in order to increase that effect. There are many popular coatings including Aurora Borealis, Volcano and Aurum. All of them serve to the creation of these wonderful pieces of jewelry, famous for their beauty and uniqueness all over the globe.
Regarding the most recent fashion trends, the Internet has given us some insight. Beads are in style now and online there are a lot of Swarovski beads waiting to be bought. They come in all shapes and sizes, being full of color and leading a true revolution in the jewelry industry. The demands are higher and higher, many women considering beads as voguish and sparkling.
Swarovski beads are some of the most beautiful crystal jewelry. They are made of the finest materials and are more than brilliant. Every day, women purchase such products being profoundly interested in their general appearance. They want to do everything they can to improve their looks and beads can really help in that matter.
When Daniel Swarovski created the more than famous brand, he wasn’t aware how long the tradition was going to survive. The beads however have become extremely popular. Online shopping of Swarovski beads has proven to be a great alternative for busy jewelry enthusiasts, offering enticing jewelry pieces.

The bride is the center of attraction on her wedding day and it is important for her to look her best on that special occasion. Therefore bridal jewelry, chosen tastefully and worn properly, will surely add complement to her wedding dress and make her look as beautiful as any bride should be.
Jewelry refers to ornaments worn by persons, typically made with gems and precious metals. Jewelries worn symbolize the events, the culture, quality and the temperament of the wearer. For instance jewelry, particularly made with precious materials, is generally considered valuable and desirable and the rest are less expensive and are called costume jewelry. It can also be symbolic, as in the case of Christians wearing a crucifix in the form of jewelry, or, as is the case in many Western cultures, married people wearing a wedding ring. Whatever be the reason or events bridal jewelry needs extra attention.
Bridal jewelry can include old piece of jewelry that had once been owned by his mother, grandmother, or past brides in his family or can be from the collection of new or both can be used judiciously. Antique jewelry that has been passed down to brides in the family from generation to generation would reinforce a sense of family, tradition and continuity in a wedding ceremony. And if the bride prefer to go for the latest jewelry then there are thousands of bridal jewelry stores, both the Internet e-commerce sites and bricks-and-mortar stores, offering a dazzling array of accessories to make the bride shine on her wedding day.
And what can add additional sparkle on the wedding ceremony more than a diamond? Diamonds are ranked by four characteristics: cut, carat (weight), clarity, and color that determine the worth of a diamond. Watch out for the better-proportioned facets that are responsible for the sparkle. Carat is another important characteristic feature of a diamond. A carat means 100 points and 5 carats make a gram. And the last is the clarity. The color of the diamond ranges from D-X for white and yellow diamonds but one can also find green, pink, red, blue and brown diamonds that are usually treated to bring the variety. Not to be duped while making a purchase for the diamond jewelry and get the true value for your money does not overlook the fine print. Diamonds are sometimes filled with glass to camouflage the inclusion and make them appear clearer which can be damaged by heat, ultrasonic cleaning, and by re-tipping. Store your diamond jewelry with precious care because they are brittle and get damaged if handled roughly.

Whether you are having a traditional wedding or a Rockabilly Wedding… some of you may still want the traditional pearls . . .
Bridal Jewelry~ With an emphasis on pearls . . .
Since the beginning of time, pearls have been a symbol of unblemished perfection. They are the oldest known gem. Pearls symbolize purity and innocence which is why they are so much a part of wedding jewelry. In the Rigveda, an ancient Hindu book dating back to 1000 B.C. Krishna, the preserver, brought forth pearls from the depths of the sea to give to his daughter on her wedding day. Thus started the tradition of giving pearls to the bride.
Did you know . . during the Crusades, gallant knights returning from the Holy Lands would bestow pearls to their “fair ladies” for their wedding days; and that pearls were at the height of wedding fashion with royal weddings in the French House of Burgundy in the 14th and 15th century? Everyone from the bride to her male guests were adorned in glowing pearls.
From Queen Elizabeth I to our modern Queen Elizabeth II, the tradition of wearing pearls on the wedding day has continued. At the beginning of the 20th century, pearls were as much a nuptial gem in the United States as diamonds are today.
Today, the tradition of bestowing pearls upon the bride continues. Often the father of the bride or the groom gives the gift of pearls. Many brides give their bridesmaids pearl necklaces, bracelets or earrings too. In addition to being able to wear pearls for pretty much any social event (they are a staple) they make a great heirloom, keepsake to pass down. Visit LaptopBride.com for some great links to pearl jewelry - at both affordable and extravagant prices.

The occasion of marriage is a special one for any person. In India, it is considered a highly sacred bond. An Indian woman regards the day of her marriage as the most important day in her life. To make this special day perfect, preparations go on for months on end in Indian households.
Jewelry plays a very important role in Indian weddings. An Indian bride is usually decked up from head to toe in beautiful jewelry that complements her attire and her personality. Typically, an Indian bride uses the following ornaments:
Maangtika or tiara
The tiara, called the Maangtika in Hindi, is used to adorn the centre forehead parting of the bride. Maangtikas are now available in different styles and colors. In certain communities in India, elaborate headgear made of flowers is used as part of bridal wear.
Earrings

What best way can a bride think of rising to the very special occasion in her life, if that occasion does not have the glitter of jewelry in it! Brides today need not despair and give up hope if diamonds are outside their reach. Welcome to the world of moissanite bridal rings! Wondering what the price of moissanite bridal rings could be? Smile. You don’t have to earn a ton of money to own one of these exquisitely crafted beautiful bridal rings. Jewelry stores and jewelers would strongly suggest that a diamond is after all a diamond and is always the last word in bridal fineries and outfits. Great suggestions of course, if there were no relevant alternatives that could work equal wonders.
Imitation diamond rings they may be but you would be excited to know that all moissanite bridal rings are given the stamp of quality before they leave your jeweler’s store. Skilled craftsmen get to the last handcrafted detail and make every single ring a piece of enviable jewelry. Each ring is measured meticulously in the laboratory for its refractive index, its color, clarity and its hardness. Moissanite unlike diamond does not crack under pressure since cracks and fissures are absent and research has proved that a piece of moissanite jewelry can well last beyond its lifetime.
Moissanite Imitation Diamond Rings Make A Great Fashion Statement!
A moissanite ring on your bride’s finger is more than mere sparkle. It is an affirmation of the everlasting commitment and love you feel for her. On her part, she may feel very special wearing her moissanite bridal ring on her special day, its shine and fire adding to the brightness of her eyes.
Finally do not get carried away by someone telling you that you made a mistake settling for imitation diamond rings. You know your finances best and surely you would not want to spoil the magnificence of a once-in-a-lifetime experience by having to worry about debt repayments. It is the wise couple indeed who recognise that a diamond ring might be nice but isn’t essential, and that there are some things in life more important, like kids and a house, and that it may not be so smart to go into debt just for the ring.
Therefore in the new millennium, moissanite bridal rings are the true choice of the young heart.

Diamond engagement rings are proudly and traditionally worn by a bride-to-be as a powerful symbol that she is “taken” and will soon be married to her true love. The ring is viewed as an indication of love, faith, fidelity, celebration, and the wealth of the groom. By placing the ring on his soon-to-be-wife, the groom gives the world an outward demonstration that he not only loves his bride, but also can afford to marry her and take her from her father’s care. Diamond engagement rings, with their perfect clarity and indestructible nature, have come to symbolize the purity and eternal commitment between a man and his wife.
Diamonds are relatively new as gemstones for engagement rings, the result of some very clever marketing by the diamond trade industry about 150 years ago. Other precious gemstones like sapphires, rubies, pearls and emeralds served as symbols of an engagement to be married in many countries, especially among royalty. Today, diamond engagement rings dominate the bridal jewelry industry.
Variations among Diamond Engagement Rings
Current bridal fashion favors a solitaire diamond engagement ring set in a band of yellow or white gold, sterling silver, or platinum. However, there are limitless rings for you to choose from, or have custom-designed. The cut of the diamond may catch your eye; Princess cut, Tiffany cut, Cartier cut, Square cut, Pear cut, Teardrop cut, Bezel cut, or Round cut – all are stunning and irresistible. The gorgeous Trilogy ring with its three equal-sized diamonds is said to represent the past, the present, and the future.
The clarity of the diamond engagement ring is important to many brides. Clear white diamonds of SI-1 or SI-2 have no carbon specks or flaws. Most diamond engagement rings must pass rigorous tests by the Gemologist International Association to be declared IF-VS2 clarity, and are considered to be either Ideal or Premium cut. Alternatively, some buyers actually prefer to have a carbon speck deeply imbedded in their diamond as a reminder that the diamond is a creation of nature, formed from the blackest carbon into a thing of timeless beauty.
While we generally consider diamonds as being clear, in fact diamonds come in many colors such as yellow, blue, or pink. Gemologists say that some of the most exquisite natural diamond colors are found in canary yellow diamond engagement rings. Colored diamonds are always the subject of delighted comments from buyers and friends of the bride who see these rings as unique and very meaningful.
An increasing trend among diamond engagement rings are cubic zirconium and moissanite stones. Among diamond traditionalists, these are “fake diamonds” of little or no worth. In reality, these clear white stones are diamonds, as “real” as those mined in Australia or Africa. The only difference is that these diamonds are man-made in laboratories rather than by nature over hundreds of years. Both are made from carbon, both have a pure white color. In fact, the CZ and moissanite diamonds are more refractive than natural diamonds, giving them a blinding brilliance than never dims. These diamond engagement rings cost only a fraction of what a highest-quality natural diamond would cost. Most buyers find that the band in which the diamond is set costs more than the diamond itself! For couples with a limited budget but who also want a large, impressive diamond, the CZ and moissanite diamonds may be the answer.

High-end jewelers are turning their attention to the engagement-ring market as the lure of the diamond ring spreads into Europe and Japan.
French jeweler Cartier decorated the windows of its Fifth Avenue flagship earlier this year with ivory-and-gold wedding cakes to fete its new bridal salon, a room dedicated to diamond solitaires and wedding bands — a feature it will roll out in other U.S. cities over the next few months.
Down the street, De Beers, a joint venture between De Beers and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, recently unveiled an imposing engagement-ring counter complete with white-leather bar stools.
For years, most European high-end jewelry houses turned up their noses at engagement rings. Brands such as Cartier and Italy’s Bulgari SpA were content to leave this firmly entrenched American tradition to Tiffany & Co., which dominates the $9 billion U.S. ”bridal jewelry” market, a category that includes diamond engagement rings and less-lucrative wedding bands.
But that is changing as the lure of the diamond ring spreads.
American passion
The engagement-ring tradition may date back to European royalty giving jewels to their betrothed, but the diamond solitaire took off in the United States after World War II, when De Beers launched its ”A Diamond Is Forever” advertising campaign. Solitaires later caught on in the United Kingdom and Japan, too. But in continental Europe, engagement rings with colored gems and family heirlooms remained more popular.
However, now more European couples are buying new diamond rings to mark their engagements. China is another growing market as increasingly wealthy Chinese consumers adopt the rite of passage. ”The engagement-ring phenomenon has gone worldwide,” says De Beers Chief Executive Guy Leymarie.
The engagement-ring market isn’t easy. Customers know their carats, making it more difficult to simply add a signature look and mark up the price of what is otherwise a standard product.
”You have to be conservative on design, because it’s a traditional purchase,” says Francesco Trapani, chief executive of Bulgari.
Bulgari and other European brands that don’t have a long tradition in bridal jewelry first built up their business in Japan, where the engagement-ring tradition has long been strong. Already avid consumers of fashion, young Japanese are highly brand-conscious. Ten years ago, Bulgari designed the Corona line, an engagement-ring series with a four-prong setting and thick band, specifically for the Japanese market. Around the same time, Cartier launched an advertising campaign in Japanese fashion magazines featuring solitaires, to help associate its brand with engagement rings.
But the jewelers discovered that Japanese men weren’t big spenders for their betrothed; for a Tiffany ring, last year they spent an average of $1,600, about one-third what American men budget.
Changing traditions
European jewelry brands are taking advantage of changing bridal customs in their home countries. Van Cleef & Arpels, which also belongs to Compagnie Financiere Richemont, earlier this year opened its first ”bridal bar” in its Paris flagship. Salespeople serve Champagne and chocolate to customers seated on stools at a counter. The store stays open late to cater to young executives, who are among their major buyers of diamond engagement rings.
Boucheron, part of Gucci Group, the luxury division of France’s PPR SA, says the pink-gold rings it offers at its boutique on Place Vendome in Paris sell well to local customers who want to mix the French tradition of color with the diamond-solitaire trend. A few doors down, Chaumet does a brisk business in brushed platinum bands.
Chinese couples are the latest to be smitten by the bridal-jewelry tradition. In April, Cartier started rolling out its salon concept to its 14 stores on the mainland.

Bridal design has long been the stepchild of the fashion world, but a recent wave of chic gown design has taken the corniness out of duchess satin. Siman Tu Jewelry Gallery (860 Lexington Ave., nr. 65th St.; 212-327-4626) moves wedding jewelry in the same direction. Unlike the designs of other bridal costume jewelers, whose froufrou creations can look cheap, Tu’s handmade designs are sophisticated and dazzling—and, admittedly, more expensive. He uses Austrian crystal and freshwater pearls, among other materials, in bib necklaces (from $300) and tiaras (from $400). Besides the bridal bling, there are two rooms filled with bold, Art Deco– and organic-looking pieces.

You don’t have to look at many fall bridal magazines to notice all the wrist action. In fact, after you see couple dozen of these blushing brides with big bracelets, the bride who goes without almost starts to look like a featherless bird.

Where does all this come from? Well, giant-sized jewelry (even paste will do) has fashion directors enthralled. Rings that loom over three fingers? It’s laughable. And yet … charming.
And while most brides aren’t going to don a 2-inch diameter costume ring to be in step with the times, the cuff’s another matter. For one thing, it seems like the missing piece we’ve always needed to set off those sleek, toned-down silhouettes of today’s more minimalistic strapless gowns.
There’s an 80s throwback feel to it, too. These aren’t dainty little straps around the wrist: these are punk princess baubles. Sure, they might be comprised of precious metals or more, but their aesthetic is hardly nostalgic or demure. In fact, for all the sparkle, it’s practically industrial. Bonus: a chunky cuff slenderizes the arm.
Playbook for This Look
Be Discreet. Chunky means lots of volume, not big beads. This is not the place for dangly charms, hunks of rose crystal or beautifully chaotic nests of silver wire that detract from your dress. On the other hand, seed pearls, crystals, and silver and gold are perfect, as long as they’re arranged simply. Let the materials take a step back, while the overall shape steps forward.
Go Wide. Skip the girlish little chain around the wrist and go for cuffs or many-stranded bangles. Or: pile two substantial bracelets on top of each other. They don’t have to match!
Hello, Handsome. You want classic, repetitive metallics or monochromes: a bracelet tailor-made for today’s revised menswear craze. Avoid floral inlays or distracting flashes of color … but just plain flash is more than fine.

Maangtika or tiara: The tiara, called the Maangtika in Hindi, is used to adorn the centre forehead parting of the bride. Maangtikas are now available in different styles and colors. Usually, for bridal wear, a Maangtika with a decorative centre piece is preferred, with a long string. In the modern times, tiaras in the form of crowns are also being used.
Hair accessories: The trend of using hair accessories is getting highly popular in today’s times. It is fast becoming a fashion statement. The hair accessories should co-ordinate with the attire of the bride. If the bride’s dress is studded with diamonds, hair accessories encrusted with diamonds can be used. Pearl headgear and silver hairpins are also in vogue in the fashion world. In certain communities in India, elaborate headgear made of flowers is used as part of bridal wear.
Earrings: Earrings are available in every imaginable style and color. They range from small, delicate ones to dangling, heavy ones. Earrings are available in different metals and using different gemstones or pearls. Nowadays, the trend is to wear earrings covering the whole ear. Brides typically wear earrings that are attached to a chain, which is hooked in the hair.
Nose ring: The nose ring traditionally worn by Indian brides is in the form of a ring, which is attached to a chain that is hooked in the hair. It is called ‘Nath’ in Hindi. In certain castes, the nose ring is worn without the chain. With the changing fashions, the nose ring is also undergoing a change. It is now available in different styles and is fast becoming a fashion statement.
Necklace: The necklace is the most versatile piece of bridal jewelry in today’s times. It is available in a variety of styles and colors. The type of necklace is chosen depending upon the neckline of the bride’s dress as well as the color and pattern. According to fashion experts, a long necklace would look good with a deep neck, while a choker would suit a smaller neckline.
Armbands: An armband is called ‘Bajubandh’ in Hindi. It is also a widely used piece of bridal jewelry, which is worn on the upper part of the arms.
Bangles: The bangles are one of the most important part of a bride’s attire. A variety of bangles made of different metals and studded with different gemstones and pearls is available in the market today. Nowadays, bracelets are becoming popular as bridal wear.
Finger rings: Finger rings are also one of the most important pieces of bridal jewelry. There are a number of styles available in the market in case of rings. Like other jewels, rings are also available in different metals, colors and gemstones. Generally, finger rings are worn on the ring fingers. However, finger rings can be worn on several fingers, as per the preference of the bride.
Ring bracelet: A ring bracelet is a bracelet that is attached to finger rings by way of chains. It is a custom in certain castes in India to wear ring bracelets.
Waistband: A waistband, popularly known as ‘Kamarbandh’ in India, is highly popular as part of wedding attire. It can be used both with sarees and lehngas.
Anklets: Anklets are also an important part of the bridal attire in most Indian communities. They are available in a number of styles today. Anklets are fast becoming a fashion statement.
Toe rings: Toe rings are available in various designs – in silver, with minakari, kundan and beads. Like anklets, they are also becoming a fashion accessory in the modern times. They are an important part of wedding customs in certain Indian castes.
While choosing jewelry, it should be ensured that all the pieces complement each other and match perfectly with the bride’s attire. The budget is also an important factor under consideration while selecting the type of jewelry.
Bridal jewelry can be made from different metals, the most preferred ones being gold, silver and platinum. Sometimes precious gemstones such as diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds are used.
Nowadays, brides get their wedding jewelry specifically designed by jewelry designers so as to suit their taste and attire. Different pieces of jewelry are designed for different ceremonies in the marriage such as the engagement, Mehndi, Sangeet and the reception.
People from different communities prefer different kinds of jewelry. For instance, Sindhi families prefer diamond jewelry while South Indians prefer jewelry made from solid gold.
Today, new trends in jewelry are coming up almost every day. Designer jewelry in different shapes, colors and textures is now easily available in the markets. Brides now prefer wearing traditional designs in lighter weight. The choice is shifting to jewelry that can be worn on different occasions, instead of wearing it for the wedding only.
The choice of bridal jewelry is one of the most important considerations in an Indian wedding. It is necessary that the jewelry be suitable to the bride’s personality and well-coordinated so that the bride looks her best on her special day.

A woman’s wedding day is the best time for her to look her best. This is probably the reason why so many women invest in gowns, make up and jewelry for their wedding day. The bridal jewelry, in particular, is of great importance because it does not only allow a woman to look beautiful and glamorous on her wedding day. It also reflects the preciousness of the occasion. The importance of the bridal jewelry therefore entails proper selection and some know how in buying. When choosing bridal jewelry, take into consideration the following pointers:
Elegant jewelries are fit for a wedding. The wedding is one of the events where a woman should have to be very choosy in the selection of her jewelries. This is for reason that the jewelry reflects how special an occasion is. As such, wearing trendy but cheap looking jewelries on your wedding day is simply a big no. Having elegant jewelries does not mean having to splurge fortunes, though. It simply means being able to choose jewelries that can make you look respectable and elegant on your wedding day.
Classic jewelries are in. Classic stones and precious metals like gold, diamonds and pearls remain to be the most sought after bridal jewelries. Wearing classic jewelries to go along with your wedding gown simply highlights the traditional importance of wedding ceremonies. When you buy classic jewelries for your wedding day, you can keep using these jewelries regardless of time and fashion changes. You may even be able to hand these jewelries over to your daughter someday when she too will enter the bond of marriage.
Your jewelry must complement you and your wedding theme. Your jewelry should match you wedding dress and accessories. Jewelries are best in accentuating your appearance on your wedding day. As such, it is important that when choosing jewelries, you choose colors and styles that do not clash with your gown or wedding theme. If you choose an emerald studded earring, for example, to match you wedding gown that is predominantly accessorized in red flowers and red embroideries, the pair would not match. If you have chosen a blue motif for your wedding, it is also best to choose a jewelry that would not clash with the color blue. Pearls and diamonds, as such, are best choices because their colors easily match and blend with almost all wedding themes and motifs.
If you are on the look out for bridal jewelries that you will use on your great day, remember these tips. You just deserve to have the best and most appropriate jewelry for you to look your best on your big day.
